Never the Bride

SUPPORT: NO FIXED ABODE
VENUE: THE MINERS WELFARE CLUB, BATH LANE, MOIRA DE12 6BP

Never the Bride are old Pokey Hole favourites having played at the club and at Conkers on a number of memorable occasions. Here’s another chance to catch one of the best rock bands in the UK at the moment.

Vocalist Nikki Lamborn has the most powerful voice; a mixture of Janis Joplin and Tina Turner with stage presence and charisma by the lorry load. Add to this the songwriting and keyboard skills of Catherine (The Been) Feeney, Guitarist Murray Gold, Bassist Greg Harwood plus drummer Richie Newman and you have a backline that can seriously kick! Their live reputation goes from strength to strength and big support slots with The Who, ZZ TOP and The Pretenders has certainly helped to spread the word. After successfully supporting The Who, a personal call from Roger Daltrey lead to Nikki and ‘Been’ joining Daltrey, Alice Cooper, Paul Rodgers, Peter Frampton and a few more rock gods on The British Rock Symphony Tour. The band toured the UK, Europe and Australia with the Orchestra, making a huge impression with their interpretation of Led Zeppelin's Kashmir and Stairway to Heaven.

No Fixed Abode are fronted by Una Walsh singing in her own lilting Irish accent and Tony Dean supporting on acoustic guitar. They have travelled all across the UK over the last three years building up a solid reputation performing at festivals and acoustic clubs. In this current climate of safe jaded music take the time to give No Fixed Abode a listen and refresh your belief in real music.
